The Messages You Send about Math Matter!
One of the most harmful messages you can say to your child about math is, "don't worry, I wasn't good at math either," or "some people are not math people." This message tells your child that they are not a "math person" and that they might as well give up. Regardless of your feelings of math, make sure to promote the point of view that your child can succeed with hard work and perseverance.
